My Blog

November 30

I finally figured out this blog thing. I was trying to make it flow down but apparently blogs are backwards and must flow up, with the latest blog on the top. I guess that makes sense in a high tech kind of way. But at least it formats my entries correctly.
November is nearly at an end and I have successfully completed the 50,000 word challenge and my story is not even half told. That's a good thing since I have been shooting to write a long novel. The story needs to sustain itself for more than 50 or 60 thousand words. And why am I trying to write such a novel you might ask... well Daw books accepts unsolicited manuscripts but they must be 150,000 or more. I think that's a viable goal for me. I have one book that excedes that number but I dont think that Daw books would be interested in Forever, Love. They specialize more in hard core science or fantasy fiction, not soft fantasy / love story fiction. But there is a publisher that might find that particular book interesting.
Speaking of publication, I submitted the manuscript for Volume 2 of the Life of Calisto Gabrielle Casey: The Demon Cleanser for publication yesterday. As you know I publish most of my own work through Amazon. If and when they accept the manuscript and cover I will move very quickly to have it out for Christmas.
For those that are following Cali's exploits, this book is the first in a series that documents her young adult life. In it she is working as a Detective in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. She uses her experiences of the past and her odd ability to see Demons to catch bad guys. In the first volume The Demon Cleanser she is after a serial killer who leaves his naked victims posed in a position of prayer in public places.
The Demon Cleanser is a short book, only about 33,000 words but in my defense it is my first crime drama. I used my own experience as a Police Officer and personal knowledge of bad guys and Detectives to give this book a viable and realistic feel. This is not a convoluted CSI where Police proceedure is butchered by Hollywood and reality is severely warped. I tried to 'keep it real' and honest.
Also today I opened a new Twitter account, I have no idea what happened to the last one but I have a new one and I'm gonna try and keep it updated as well.
Okay, I think that's all I've been up to in the last week or so. I've been eating a lot of apple pie and trying really hard to run off the extra calories at the gym. But that's just me at holiday time.
Have a wonderful day!
