Okay, I admit it, I've officially been derailed... for the time being. I have gotten my hands on a copy of Robert Jordan's A Memory of Light, this is the last and final book of the Wheel of Time series and I, along with thousands of other fans have been waiting for 20 some odd years for this book. It has been a long and often frustrating wait.
First we dove into his first few books in the series and devoured them and wanted more. Mr. Jordan was fairly consistant at first in delivering those new books that fed our creative souls. But then he became ill and as his health declined the consistency wained. Then the worst of all things that could happen did, Mr. Jordan passed away, leaving the series incomplete.
For years we his fans not only mourned his passing but also mourned the loss of a good ending to our beloved Wheel of Time. But then someone heard our cries and found Brandon Sanderson, a great author in his own right but also a man that was willing to take up the torch that a fellow author had dropped by no fault of his own and the Wheel of Time began to turn once again.
Mr. Sanderson's writing is different in so many ways and yet he still captures the soul of Mr. Jordan's saga. Now after so much personal drama and sacrifice the final offering in the saga that began so long ago is finally here and I have a copy of it in my hands.
So, as much as I want to continue to write my own saga I must first feed the desire in my soul to finish this other quest first. Never fear however, the Wheel of Time will no doubt give me a myriad of ideas to incorperate into The World Gambit and I will most certainly be devouring the Wheel like an icecream cone on a hot day.
While I'm away... a day or two at most, be good to each other.
